With the demise of Cyril, [Richard's nickname for the the original Honda], we needed to come up with a replacement. Perhaps with a little more haste than was good for us, we have bought a new EK4 Civic and it's donor car brother. This required a couple of trips to Lancaster Honda. As you can see, gone 'Stealth', in, 'clockwork orange' or maybe 'orange blossom special' but
definitely more in your face. Also a case of all that glitters is not gold. Before doing anything at all to the car, we took it over to the two Steve's, at Track 'N' Road, for an engine health check. All in all, perhaps not the best of buys, BUT we do have the technology to do something about it.
Let's take a quick look at some of the 'issues' starting with that rolling road performance or should I say, lack of. Standard, the car should have 160 bhp, so somewhere along the line, this one has said goodbye to 20 of them and is over 30 bhp down on the old car.
The cage leaves something to be desired, particularly when it comes to the welding.
The brake hose installation was a bit iffy as well and I thought the interior door handles left a bit to be desired.
All in all, quite a bit to put right.
