The Injection sump pan is supplied with no baffles,we shall fit a similar one to the photo, taken of the Coupe sump.
A little more fabrication.
While stripping the engine, the distributor drive, which also drives the oil pump, was very very difficult to remove. It had to be levered out. So I thought it would be worth taking the pump apart to locate the problem. Having removed the mesh strainer & the 4 bolts holding the 2 halves of the pump together
it soon became apparent where the problem lay.
The end of the drive shaft has a slot in it which should slide over the small flat bar in the middle which in turn slides into the slot in the gear. Our problem had been the slot in the drive shaft had become burred over and didn't want to come off the drive key. A little TLC with a needle file & an oil stone and everything was fine.
We have helped the oil pressure a little with the use of a washer behind the relief valve spring.
