Reflections

Now that things have settled down and everyone concerned is back in the normal swing of things I have had chance to look at some of the photos & vid clips that we took while we were away. One of the lasting impressions this time was just how dusty the roads were for the service crews. The rally cars were running on 3 minute intervals which was a luxury not extended to the service crews.Download dusty_driving.mp4 & just how long the days were for the service crews. We spent quite a lot of time napping between servicesDownload sleeping_beauties.mp4 . For 9 days we were doing a couple of UK nationals every day & some days the same mileage as a WRC event. No wonder they say it's the toughest event on earth.

The other thing that stands out was the comarardarie amongst the crews.

End of Season

With no cars out on the Loco stages our season is complete. We have had ups & downs like most teams but have come away with wins in 2 championships which can't be bad. Shame about the C2 but there is always 2008.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all

Ti's First 'Rally First Challenge Crew

First to sign up for the new BTRDA Challenge are Dominic Hodge who will be joined by Stefan Arndt. Looks like Stefan is going to have a busy year as he will also partner Tony Simpson on the BRC Challenge. Both Dominic who is well known in 205 circles as a competitor & series scrutineer are very enthusiastic. Still looking for 2 more crews to make up the team.

BTRDA Rally First Challenge

Who is going to be the first to sign up with us for this new BTRDA introductory series. We have 205s, C2s & ZR's all ready for next year. For more info on the Rally First Challenge go to http://www.btrdarally.com/bulletins/RallyFirstAnnouncement.pdf.

This will make an excellent stepping stone for those 205 Challenge drivers who have been there, seen that read the book. It's also a relatively cheap way into proper forest rallying. Those people doing enduro events will only need minimal changes to their cars to make them MSA logbook ready, lets hope that there are plenty of takers to make it worth winning

Build Progress

You may have noticed that we have introduced some photos of the build of Andy Barnett's Saxo. The car is now away at the paint shop to have inside & out painted following our fitting of the roll cage. We are expecting the car back next week ,just in time for us to close for Christmas.

Meanwhile we have been having a look at the TU5 engine with a view to squeezing a bit more power out of it. Our XU engines for the 205,s produce in excess of 135bhp and this will be the minimum target for the TU. The draft regulations have tightened up a few grey areas that were available in the past & I think a few people will be detuning their what were perfectly legal engines to comply with the 2008 rules. Best published figures I've seen so far are 120bhp & 109lbs/ft of torque by PM Racing [std is about 98bhp for an early Saxo] but knowing the capabilities of the TU I suspect that some of the guys out there have knocking on 140 bhp.

We are still awaiting a clarification on the strut front issue as the new regs outlaw any Bilstein type of inverted strut. John at BAD Suspension meanwhile is working on our C2 damping.

End of year Let Down

If you read the report from Wales Rally GB you will know that our season with the C2 ended disastrously. Mathematically it was possible I am told for Kaz to have won the Cup but that didn't happen & we are all left with a hollow feeling of mission failure. Not something we are used to at Ti but I suppose it brings you back to earth and will no doubt ensure that we all try a lot harder next year. For my part I have thoroughly enjoyed the BRC and think that Mark Taylor has done a great job & is starting to return the BRC to its rightful place in UK rallying.

Moving Goal Posts

Like all teams at this time of year we are trying very hard to firm up deals for 2008, some have been agreed some have fallen through, Gordon Nichol has been unable to find the budget for the C2 but has expressed his intention to continue using the 1800 MG. We are all looking forward to renewing that partnership. Kaz who has gone home to Japan has vowed to return in March though to what end we don't know. Martin Head is planning to do some events in France & Belgium but we have a problem regarding the form in which the ZR competes. No throttle bodies for the GpA 1400 would be a major headache. We have also had talks about running the C2 in a series of tarmac events so lots of things to juggle, lets hope we keep most of the balls in the air.

Another great plan, to run a car on next years London Sydney Marathon has gone out of the window as the event has been cancelled so we may have to look at the Trans Europe Rally instead.

We also have to start looking at the Safari again for 2009, a long way away but time just flies.

2008 Sponsorship Opportunities

20071012_142100_jersey2007  Once again the team is looking for support for the new season. With increased TV coverage for the BRC rounds and dedicated coverage for the Citroen C2R2 Cup the opportunity to promote your company has never been easier. No matter how big or small your budget the team can offer you exposure which represents excellent value for money. By joining the team you will benefit from multiple car coverage as all team cars carry your sponsorship giving national & local coverage. Seen here with Edmunds Exhaust & Tyre livery the cars can be decal ed to individual needs. Cars can be made available for trade stands or exhibitions if required as well as corporate events.
