Jersey Rally

Just a great big disappointment this time & a non finish not caused by gearbox failure.

After a good first stage, only a couple of seconds slower than the C2 the car cut out in the second stage. A frantic bit of phone diagnosis which didn't help very much but the car eventually restarted only to fail about 4 bends later. This time for good.

When Martin eventually managed to get the car back we traced the fault to a bare wire which had been shorting out. Not very good we thought. While mechanic Mike Tucker was climbing about under the dash he found the steering column mounting bracket had broken & had trapped the wire eventually cutting through it & causing the short.

Maybe we were lucky as the steering could have failed anywhere and the consequences could have been very nasty.

Roll on next year
